Have you ever found yourself more focused on a poet’s socks than their words at a poetry reading? Yet when a friend or lover has read you a poem (& meant it), you have experienced that poems can actually be magical(when they’re not being presented as though you’re going to be quizzed on the content.)
If you’ve ever thought “this reading would have been so much better if the poet cared about what I wanted to hear,” then the Poetry Brothel is the event for you.
This event isn’t as seedy as the name may suggest. Our poets are peddling one-on-one readings; an intimate experience with you and their words.
Our poets will be decked to the nines in the persona of their choice. You don’t have to come as yourself, either. No one will have to know that you enjoyed that poem that you really didn’t care for when you heard it from the back row of a conference room.
Of course, if intimacy isn’t your thing, we’ve got you covered, too. There will be libations & treats, and books & cards & entertainment.
We just really want you to come celebrate Boise poetry.
